4 Charm Packs =

A couple new quilts, just basic patchwork showing off the fabrics, sometimes I find it difficult to cut them up.   And I have “collected” quite a few charm packs that I need to use up. This one is Prayer Flag by April Cornell for Moda. I machine quilted it in the ditch and also with a swirly/loopy design in each square.

I.love. this. fabric ~ Fresh Cottons by Fig Tree Quilts for Moda. I stitched this one in the ditch and also stitched a flowery/butterfly design in each block. Oh and Joanna over at Fresh Figs is having a super fun giveaway!

All tied up

It started with the tee shirt pocket pillow I made for my Dan’s birthday.

IMG_1195

The tee-shirt was purchased on vacation visiting relatives a few years ago, it had a stain so I decided to make a pillow out of it.

Dan loves bandana fabric so I used some red on the inside.

I really loved the pillow ticking so I decided to stitch up a quilt out of it. I haven’t tied a quilt in a while, this is a big full/queen and I wanted it a little poofy for a change so I decided to tie it.

I started on the table and finished on the floor.  Someone thought I wanted to play….

I love the way it finished ~ simple and pretty.

Dan is so easy going, he lets me do whatever I want when it comes to decorating his room.

Made some lighthouse pocket pillowcases to0, I love the way they hold the pillow inside.

I have lots of vintage navy cotton ric-rac that I was happy I used on this quilt.

Incorporated two charm packs of Minick and Simpsons Bar Harbor on the back.

On a bittersweet note, I also finished my last “grief” blanket.  I  knitted about 10 of these during my parents final days and eventual death in 2005.  I’m finished now, not finished knitting but finished making these blankets, every stitch comforting and helping me through a difficult time.  My Mom taught me to sew and knit among many other things.  It goes nice with Dan’s new quilt.

Got Corn…..

We are “all” enjoying the fresh corn on the cob this year…. lol  I’m sure he would eat the cob too which he has done in the past, but the vet said it’s not good for his tummy. Of course he would rather be waited on in this way. Pets are too funny, it is so fun to watch him eat every kernel off the cob!

Monkeys in Oz……

I can’t remember when I made this sock monkey for my son, maybe 10 or 12 years ago, he is showing his well loved age a little…  He was actually packed away in the closet, poor little guy.  He inspires me to stitch another, they are fun to make.

DSC_0002

I just love the Oz fabric line and thought it was perfect for another raw edge circle quilt, inspired by Allison over at Cluck Cluck Sew.

DSC_0026

Monkeys in Oz measures 66”x78”, a nice (big/large) size.

Sock Monkeys on the back and Oz on the front.

It’s a little on the heavy side though, I didn’t cut out behind the circles .  Oh well I have enough scraps around here.

DSC_0006

This fabric reminds me of the 70’s??

DSC_0037

I feel like  I should make a little outfit for my monkey they are so cute dressed!

DSC_0015

Sock Monkeys are just so silly I can’t help but love their sweetness!!

DSC_0004

I’m pretty happy with my machine quilting on this one. I like the circles, loops, flowers/butterflies and a wavy stitch my machine made.

I’ll be taking a little blog break, I need to spend some summertime with my family, mow, weed, mulch and grow my gardens ~  all of these chores make me happy,  or I’ll just keep telling myself that………
